PLASTIC MERMAIDS I STILL LIKE KELIS

Isle of Wight natives Plastic Mermaids have shared the second cheerful track from their forthcoming self-produced debut Suddenly Everyone Explodes. Combining uplifting guitar strums with driving beats and fleeting guitar/violin solos, 'I Still Like Kelis' builds and drops in all the right places channeling the high-energy indie-folk of Los Campesinos! 'We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed', reimagined with bang-up-to-date lyrics and the bittersweet notes of The Antlers' 'Two'. Vocalist Doug explains, "(It's about) Two people who used to hang out and now are in different places. In the lyrics of the second verse I sing “but in a microscopic way we’re tangled up eternally, I’ll spin the same as you” this is a reference to quantum entanglement a phenomenon where two particles are linked and move in the same way even though they’re on different sides of a room or universe even." The charming stop-motion visuals for 'I Still Like Kelis' take these ideas one step further as two glittering particles travel through space and evolve into various clay creatures before reuniting at the end of the trackSuddenly Everyone Explodes will arrive on the 24th of May courtesy of Sunday Best-Holly Mullineaux
